Weed Management in Ridge Tillage Systems—A Review

چکیده
Although different modifications of ridge tillage (RT) systems exist in regions around the world, positive impacts RT on crop yields and weed management are quite similar. This review gives a comprehensive summary forms highlights benefits for growth, mainly due to better access soil moisture, nutrients light. In temperate areas, can accelerate emergence because temperature is usually higher ridge. These stimulating effects increase competitiveness against weeds especially early period development until canopy closure. with crops placed top ridges also be used automatically guiding inter-row hoes intra-row band sprayers. Conservation Tillage and Weed Management
Tillage has long been an essential component of traditional agricultural systems. Broadly defined, tillage is the mechanical manipulation of the soil and plant residues to prepare a seedbed for crop planting. The benefits of tillage are many: it loosens soil, enhances the release of nutrients from the soil for crop growth, kills weeds, and regulates the circulation of water and air within the s...
متن کاملWeed Control for Conservation Tillage
Introduction Conservation tillage systems using sweep plows or field cultivators leave a high percentage of crop residues on the soil surface, which protects the soil from wind and water erosion (Johnson, 1950; Jones and Johnson, 1982; Allen and Fenster, 1986; Johnson et al., 1974). These systems have been successful in semiarid areas because meager rainfall after plowing does not allow weeds t...
متن کاملWeed Control Using Conventional Tillage, Reduced Tillage, No-Tillage, and Cover Crops in Organic Soybean
Soybean field experiments were performed to investigate the weed-suppressing effects of different tillage systems and cover crop mulches at two locations in southwest Germany during 2014 and 2015. The influence of three different tillage systems on weed control efficacy, soybean plant density, and crop yield was determined. In the no-till system (NT), two different cover crops, (rye and barley)...
متن کاملWater, tillage and weed management options for wet seeded rice in the Philippines
The recent shift from transplanted to wet seeded rice (Oryza sativa L.) in South East Asia has resulted in major weed problems which require more labour and energy for their control. Field experiments were conducted during 1994±1996 on a Chromic Vertisol in central Luzon, the Philippines, to study the effect of water, tillage and herbicide levels on total water use, weed growth and yield of wet...
